The Selling Skills Assessment Tool (SSAT)

is a 25-item instrument designed to assess sales professionals’ consultative and customer-focused selling skills. The SSAT primarily serves as a diagnostic, benchmarking and tracking tool which facilitates targeted training and coaching in five sales skills areas:

Open:

This area explores the degree to which the salesperson effectively builds trust and navigates the initial sales conversation.

This area explores the degree to which the salesperson accurately assesses the sales situation and uncovers client needs.

Investigate:

This area explores the degree to which the salesperson effectively ties his or her capabilities to the client situation.

Present:

This area explores the degree to which the salesperson effectively gains agreement and wins the business.​

Confirm:

This area explores the degree to which the salesperson positions himself or herself to build long-term customers.
